QFV – quantum fluctuations of vacuum

The classical vacuum, in which nothing exists and nothing happens at the same time, contradicts the quantum indeterminacy principle. In the quantum picture, the vacuum is a continuous fluctuation: processes of creation and annihilation of virtual particles with the participation of exchange quanta. The energy of the creation of virtual particles is 'borrowed' from the vacuum and must be 'given back' in the process of annihilation or creation of antiparticles, all with the participation of exchange quanta, whose energy can in turn be absorbed for the creation of subsequent particle-antiparticle pairs... etc. A greater borrowing of energy requires a return in a shorter time - high-energy particles 'live' shorter. The sum of the energies of all processes involving matter and antimatter is zero (the energy of vacuum - 'empty' space-time, although this zero is not so obvious if it probably contributes about 70% of the mass and energy of the Universe) [Jim Baggott, "Quantum Space....." (2018) and citations therein]. Don’t you see convergence here with the Greek Chaos concept as a potency of Everything?

Dark Matter

The Dark Matter (whatever it is) is about 25 % of the mass and energy of the Universe. Accidental quantum fluctuations just after the Big Bang ‘grew’ in the era of inflation, causing local (but already large-scale) densification centers of the dark matter. These compactions increased under the influence of their own gravity, simultaneously initiating the gravitational concentration of 'Ordinary Matter' (which is only less than 5 % of the mass and energy of the Universe) in their centers. Over time, the densification of ordinary matter led to the flash of new stars, galaxies, etc. These processes began several hundred million years after the Big Bang.

Quantum Entanglement

The energy of a radiation quantum can be transferred in nonlinear processes to two twin quanta of unchanged energy sum. In processes satisfying additional conditions (phase conservation, polariza-tion....) these two (in the simplest case) photons can be 'entangled' - their behavior is then described by a common wave function, regardless of their mutual distance. This seems to be in contradiction with other (non-quantum) rules of physics. Detection of one of the entangled photons (wave function reduction) unambiguously and immediately determines the state of the other photon.

General Theory of Interactions

The compositions entitled 'Strings and Loops_X' are graphic impression (certainly quite distant from real complexity) about partially competitive theories of Super-Strins and the Loop Quantum Gravity - aimed at unifying four basic interactions [Jim Baggott .......].

Recombination (the final separation of radiation and mater)

When the temperature of the Universe dropped to approx. 3000 K (about 280,000 years after the Big Bang), the average quantum energy of radiation became too low to re-ionize atoms arising as a result of recombination of plasma components (protons, neutrons and electrons). Earlier (at higher temperatures), plasma was the sole form of "normal" matter as a result of continuous interaction with radiation. At the moment of this 'last' recombination, the irreversible separation of a matter and radiation took place. The radiation 'released' in such a way (now, after further Universe temperature drop to approx. 2.5 K it is observed as relict radiation [Jim Baggott .......]). This process was probably not immediate in the entire volume of the Universe due to the small spatial fluctuations of its temperature and the finite spectral width of the thermal radiation characteristics. E.g., maybe separated small areas of radiation created originally, which then expanded to the whole (?).

Loop Quantum Gravity

Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) is one of the most important theories aimed at unifying all (four) basic forces. It is a 'no background' theory, just like the General Relativity and at the same time the quantum one. Here, the unification of the forces demands that the space must be quantized, just like energy. In LQG the base for the description of the space are closed lines of gravitational forces (loops of the order of the Planck length (~10^-35 m)) bound in two-dimensional so-called spin networks.

The 'empty' space is made up of multi-layer (already three-dimensional) spin networks, creating the so-called "Spin Foam". The relative movement of the network layers 'creates' time.

In LQG, the intersection points of the loops forming the network define the positions of quanta of (empty) space.

In turn, 'open loops' of forces (i.e. ‘strings’ (this is one of the contact points with the String Theory)) here represent fermions, i.e. charged particles of matter in spacetime. They can be also interpreted as free ends of the loops or breaks in the spin networks. These lines of forces can theoretically ‘penetrate’ through hypothetical spacetime tunnels (of the sizes of the Planck scale), which means the possibility of particle movement in the entire spacetime through a tunneling mechanism, where the speed of light is not a limit. Also, in this model, the particles are created as if from gravity itself (the theory 'automatically unified'). Further, it was proven in the frame of this theory that fermions and spacetime tunnels can be treated equivalently.

LQG is not complete yet and is continuously evolving. In addition, there is no idea yet how it can be verified experimentally. However, it seems to be the most serious candidate for 'theory of everything'. Built with a powerful theoretical apparatus, it is also S-F at its best. In a fascinating way, Dr. Jim Baggott describes this in his book "Quantum Space ...". I tried to put impressions from reading in graphic works containing the phrases 'spin networks' and 'spin foam' in titles.

Scylla i Charybda

The myth of Scylla and Charybdis has two parallel meanings: in one it is a movable rock and a large sea vortex (both of these entities have their female personifications) lurking on flowing ships. In the another version, there are two moving rocks destroying ships and everything that tries to pass between them. Odysseus released the pigeon in front of his ship and waited for the rocks to start spreading after the passage of the pigeon.
